Development Associate
OVERVIEW
Visible Figures seeks a detail-oriented and mission-driven Development Associate to support our Executive Director and broader development efforts. This role is essential to expanding our funding base, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and securing the resources needed to amplify the voices and opportunities of underrepresented leaders. The Development Associate will manage administrative and operational aspects of fundraising while contributing to grant writing, donor cultivation, and strategic communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain comprehensive donor database and CRM system (Salesforce, DonorPerfect, or similar)
- Process and track donations, prepare acknowledgment letters, and ensure donor records are current
- Prepare fundraising reports, dashboards, and analytics for ED and board review
- Manage fundraising calendars, timelines, and deadline tracking
- Organize and coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, and giving initiatives
- Handle donor correspondence and follow-up communications
- Prepare materials for donor meetings and presentations
Grant Writing & Research
- Research potential grant opportunities aligned with Visible Figures' mission and programs
- Compile grant opportunity briefs with deadlines, requirements, and fit assessments
- Assist in drafting and editing grant proposals, letters of intent, and funding applications
- Gather program data, success stories, and metrics needed for funding requests
- Monitor grant deadlines and track submission status
- Maintain grant files and ensure compliance with funder requirements and reporting obligations
Stakeholder Communications
- Draft and coordinate communications with major donors, foundations, and partners
- Support creation of funding proposals, executive summaries, and case statements
- Assist in cultivating relationships with prospective donors and grant makers
- Prepare talking points, fact sheets, and materials for ED meetings with stakeholders
- Track stakeholder interactions and relationship milestones
Program & Impact Support
- Collaborate with program team to capture program metrics, outcomes, and participant stories
- Compile impact reports and success narratives for fundraising materials
- Support data collection efforts that demonstrate organizational effectiveness
- Help translate program impact into compelling donor-facing language
Executive Director Support
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the ED
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and document action items
- Research funding trends, policy updates, and sector best practices
- Assist with board communications and meeting preparation
- Handle general office management and coordination tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, grant writing, or related fields
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Experience with donor management databases or CRM platforms
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace
- Understanding of nonprofit fundraising landscape and best practices

This role is central to creating meaningful connections, driving member engagement, and advancing our mission to pluralize the archetype of genius.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and execute community engagement programs that foster belonging, connection, and professional growth
- Build partnerships with member organizations, corporate allies, educational institutions, and industry leaders
- Develop content calendars and engagement initiatives (virtual events, networking sessions, mentorship programs, workshops)
- Create feedback mechanisms to understand community needs and continuously refine programming
Member Relations
- Serve as primary point of contact for community members, responding to inquiries and troubleshooting concerns
- Conduct outreach to inactive members and develop re-engagement strategies
- Recognize member achievements and amplify member stories across platforms
- Build peer-to-peer connection opportunities and affinity groups
Event Management
- Plan and execute monthly community events, webinars, and networking sessions (hybrid and virtual)

The Social Media Manager will develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that positions Visible Figures as a thought leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion while building authentic community connections.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Create quarterly content calendars and content themes across all platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok)
- Identify emerging trends, platforms, and opportunities to expand reach and engagement
- Establish KPIs, engagement targets, and success metrics for all social channels
- Conduct competitive analysis and industry benchmarking

Content Creation & Curation

QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of professional social media management experience
- Demonstrated expertise managing social media for organizations, nonprofits, or brands

- Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, or similar)
- Advanced analytics skills and ability to interpret social media metrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
